Hockney in Holt

An important Exhibition of original etchings by David Hockney is coming to Doric Arts in Holt
This outstanding series of 39 original etchings by David Hockney, from his famous Grimm’s Fairy Tales Suite, printed in 1969 is showing at the Gallery from :-

Friday 15th October to Saturday 6th November

Hockney had always loved the Grimm’s Fairy Tales and had read all 220 of them. Inspired by an admiration for earlier illustrations to the tales, Hockney set about creating his own inventive response.

The resulting images are exuberant, emotional and memorable, reflecting on the historical aspect of the folk tales, Hockney based some of the etchings on images by old masters, including references from Leonardo Da Vinci and Uccello.

He now considers this suite to be one of his major successes in a decade when etching featured strongly in Hockney’s work.

This series of Grimm’s Fairy Tales etchings by the nation’s favourite artist, David Hockney, is also toured nationally by the Hayward Gallery of the South Bank in London.

However, all 39 etchings from the Doric Arts Exhibition will be available for sale, with prices ranging from £250 - £8,000 Doric Arts are offering a unique opportunity for collectors to acquire an original etching by Britain’s favourite artist.
