Christopher Hurst has a very individual painting style and approach, to put it simply he combines an expressionist/impressionist painting technique with both Mediterranean and Ethnic colours which not only focuses on capturing a spiritual sense of a place but also light and energy. Christopher's paintings always express mood in fullness through his use of colour and the physicality of his painting, conveyed through the impasto technique he employs. Texture, colour and light prevail.

"Painting is my passion and also my life. Without it I am lost and often with it I am frustrated, but in the midst of creation I have moments of pure serenity.

When I paint I am living my dream, making a work that maybe unique and supreme. For me painting is freedom but also wisdom and everything in between. My innate connection to the earth, soil where I walk, pathways that I follow, rivers, trees, sky where ever I go and what ever I see.

It’s a continuing theme of my work, nature, a belonging, the beauty of a typical day, or a darkened sky, the street at night or a field view far away, light, new life, beauty in all its forms, the seasons, a sunset or a cluster of trees, watery reflections or a moment of positive belief.

This is what painting the landscape means to me. I guess it is my spirit in the paint, a journey closer to nature, a painterly world where I have no constraints, surrendering myself to a world of magic and mystique.

I give you the viewer the opportunity to experience a new way of seeing, through my eyes, at different times of day, in different light, with different moods and trains of thought."
